CPB, Khetmajur Samity observes sit-in today
10/16/2005

Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesh Khetmajur Samity will observe a one-hour sit-in across the country from 11 am today (Sunday) with the slogan: "Resist `monga', Reduce price, Save life," reports UNB.
Meanwhile, CPB leaders Saturday alleged that the people are becoming victims of human catastrophe like `monga' (near famine) due to `limitless apathy' of the BNP-Jamaat alliance government towards public welfare.
At a rally at Muktangon in the city, CPB leaders said the government is 'reluctant to admit its failure' to tackle severe crisis like `monga' while price-hike of essentials and recent flood in the northern region have increased sufferings of the people.
The rally, presided over by CPB Dhaka committee president Mahabub Alam, put forward a 15-point demand that includes opening of gruel kitchens in the `monga'-hit areas and distributing Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) cards and adequate relief materials.
CPB president Manjurul Ahsan Khan, presidium member Shahidullah Chowdhury, central committee secretary Ruhin Hossain Prince, Khetmajur Samity general secretary Adv Sohel Ahmed, Bangladesh Krishak Samity general secretary Morshed Ali and Bangladesh Chhatra Union president Baki Billah also addressed the rally.
