BRTC's special services for home-goers during Eid
10/19/2005

The Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) will put into special bus services to facilitate home-goers to celebrate Eid-ul Fitr with their family members.
"Special BRTC buses will be on service on different routes from the 20th Ramadan and advance booking will be available from the 18th Ramadan", BRTC chairman Taimur Alam Khondaker told a press conference in the city Tuesday , reports BSS.
The special services will be available for 10 days after the Eid day, the BRTC chairman said.
The BRTC will put 453 buses into the service on 129 inter-district routes from its 13 depots, including two in the capital city, he said.
"If necessary we will increase the number of the buses to 500 on the occasion of Eid", he added.
"Besides, the BRTC will launch another service for disabled from October 19 to facilitate their travel to their homes and they will have to pay just half the fare. Certification from concerned bodies will be required about their disability", the BRTC chairman said.
As in the past, he said, BRTC buses will also carry passengers in the city routes on the Eid day at half fare.
Passengers travelling to amusement sites on the Eid day and the day following also get advantage of half fare.
The amusement sites will be Mirpur Zoo, Botanical Garden, National Museum and Nandan Park at Savar.
