Govt to promote local cos to produce quality agri-tools
10/19/2005

The government will promote local agriculture equipment manufacturers to produce quality implements at competitive prices.
"This will help agriculture mechanisation and thus boost overall productivity of the sector," Agriculture Minister MK Anwar observed this while speaking at a meeting with the Agriculture Machinery Manufacturers' Association executive members at his office in the city Tuesday, reports UNB.
Some 2000 manufacturing units have been producing agriculture equipment like power-tillers, irrigation pumps, winnowing machines, grinders, graders and spare parts maintaining close cooperation with Department of Agriculture Extension, BRRI, BARI, BAU and other agriculture research organisations in the country.
