PCJ protests increased admission form fees
10/26/2005

The Progotishil Chhatra Jote (PCJ), an umbrella of left-leaning student bodies, protested Tuesday the increased fees for admission forms of different universities for 2005-06 academic year, reports BDNEWS.
The alliance leaders who were speaking at a press conference at Modhu's Canteen of the Dhaka University, said the public university authorities, including Jahangirnagar University, Rajshahi University and Chittagong University, had increased the fees for admission forms on various lame excuses.
President of the alliance Khalequzzaman Lipon said the authorities of the institutions raise the form fees every year to implement the government's directive to create universities' internal fund. But the authorities must understand that the poor students can't bear the additional expenses, he added.
The alliance urged the authorities to reduce the fees for admission forms. Otherwise, they threatened to launch a movement in all the educational institutions of the country.
To press home their demand, the alliance would hold a rally at the city's Muktangon and also bring out a procession from there today (Wednesday).
