Steps taken to ensure availability of urea fertiliser
12/23/2005

The government has made arrangements to allocate 248,800 tonnes of urea fertiliser in December 2005 and 360,000 tonnes, 445,000 tonnes and 275,000 tonnes in January, February and March next year respectively, reports UNB.
The arrangement has been made to avoid any problem in the availability of urea.
This was disclosed at a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban in the city Thursday.
District-wise demand note has been sent to the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) to ensure supply of fuel for irrigation pumps, it was informed in the meeting.
The meeting, chaired by committee chairman Abdul Mannan, reviewed the progress of the decisions of its earlier meetings and held elaborate discussion on the report of activities of the Department of Agriculture Extension ahead of the ensuing Rabi season.
A study tour report of the Standing Committee members, who recently visited China and Vietnam, was placed in the meeting that decided to discuss the report in its next sitting.
The meeting was also informed that different projects, financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), are being implemented in 60 upazilas of 16 districts in Rajshahi division.
