UK HC introduces new TB screening scheme for visa applicants
12/23/2005

All visa applicants in Bangladesh applying for a visa or entry clearance to the UK for a stay longer than six months will have to furnish health certificate confirming that they are free from infectious TB, reports UNB.
With effect from January 3, the visa applicants should apply at a designated clinic for a health certificate confirming that they are free from TB, according to a British High Commission release issued in advance.
"This must be done before making a visa/entry clearance application. On receipt of the health certificate, applicants can then lodge their visa/entry clearance application in the usual manner."
If, however, they are found to be suffering from TB, they will be asked to go and seek treatment and will not (normally) be allowed to apply for a visa, until free from the disease.
TB health certificate are needed by students and dependents intending to stay longer than six months, work permit holders and working holiday-makers and all dependants of persons settled in the UK applying for spouse/civil partner/unmarried and same- sex partner entry clearance.
