Problems of Comilla EPZ workers to be solved soon

          COMILLA, Dec 24 (BDNEWS): The prevailing problems of the workers of Comilla EPZ will be solved as per policies of the BEPZA with the assistance of the industry authorities.
The assurance came at a meeting between the Export Processing Zone (EPZ) officials, industry authorities and the officials of local administration at the EPZ rest house Saturday morning.
At the meeting, Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Chairman Mohammad Zakir Hossain blamed the present general manager of EPZ for the failure in solving the prevailing problems at the Comilla EPZ.
Alim Akhter Khan, UNO of Comilla Sadar Dakkhin upazila, mentioned different demands of the workers, which include providing them salary in due time, unconditional release of 13 detained workers and formation of trade union.
The BEPZA chairman gave assurance of fulfilling the demands of the workers.
He also called upon the EPZ and industry authorities and the local administration to take necessary steps to bring the workers of all the industries in the EPZ back to work.
The BEPZA chairman urged the workers, employees and industry authorities to provide assistance in increasing the production of the industries in the EPZ.
He said that the workers of the industries in EPZ are given higher wage than other industries as per rules of BEPZA.
The meeting was presided over by the BEPZA chairman while Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, Comilla EPZ General Manager, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner, Lutfur Rahman, Additional Superintendent of Police, Alim Akhter Khan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), and officials of 12 industries, running in the EPZ, were present.
