MSC face Brothers in super-leg tie today
12/26/2005

The six-team super-leg of the Nitol-Tata Fifth National Football League begins today (Monday) with defending champions Brothers Union taking on title aspirants Mohammedan Sporting Club at Bangabandhu National Stadium, reports BDNEWS.
The Bangladesh Television will telecast the heavyweight battle live at 4:00pm.
Group-A champions Brothers Union, runners-up Munsiganj Samabesh Club and Bangladesh Army will play three matches separately against group-B champions Abahani Limited, runners-up Muktijoddha Sangsad KC and Mohammedan SC.
The top four of the super league will play the semifinals, scheduled for January 5 and 6. The final is billed for January 8 at the same venue.
Both the Dhaka giants, who are without their star booters, were struggled in the second round matches and confirmed their super-league berths with hard work.
Defending champions Brothers Union confirmed their super-league berths with two wins and two draws against the minnows in the group-A while the Mohammedans moved into final-leg with two wins, a draw to Muktijoddha Sangsad and lost to Abahani Limited in the group-B.
The Gopibagh outfits Brothers Union, however, are ahead of the Mohammedans in the Monday's match on paper as they have entered into super-league with four bonus points, three points ahead of the Mohammedans, who have just one bonus point.
Despite the shaky performance from two powerhouses, the All Orange and Black & White outfits could remember their last match's performance where Brothers Union thrashed Bangladesh Army 4-0 and the Mohammedans bowled out Rangamati Mohammedans by the same margin.
Brothers Union and Abahani Limited moved into the six-team super-league with four bonus points while Bangladesh Army earned three bonus points.
Muktijoddha Sangsad collected two bonus points while Mohammedan SC and Samabesh Club each earned one bonus point, which will be added in the super-league phase.
