The sudden breakdown of two power generation units - 210 mw unit-1 at Raozan station and 80 mw Tongi plant -- in last 24 hours has added to the sufferings of electricity consumers, reports UNB. According to official sources, the power generation in Raozan plant was suspended Friday night while in the Tongi plant Saturday morning following technical faults. PDB had to go for huge load shedding across the country Saturday following the operation breakdown of the two plants. "We're generating about 2,800 mw during the peak hours against the countrywide demand of 4000 mw," said a PDB official Saturday evening adding that the load shedding was about 1200 mw on the weekend. Dhaka city alone experienced 200-300 mw of load shedding due to the shortage in power generation, he added.
