Rains break long stint of dry weather in north
3/12/2006

Rain has broken the shackles of dry weather in the northern regions Saturday morning and more showers are expected early today (Sunday) at some places in the divisions of Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet and the regions of Comilla and Noakhali, met office sources said.
According to preliminary reports from met office, 5.0 mm of rain was recorded at Bogra and 2.0 mm at Rangpur until 12:00 noon of Saturday, reports BSS.
Earlier on March 4 Khulna region had some showers. Since then, however, it dried up with the hint of dry weather lingering over the country as moisture laden southerly winds from the bay of Bengal failed to conjugate with the westerly system.
There had been some clouds but they failed to convert to rain. Now the two wind systems have mated the met office forecast said and there are chances of rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds at one or two places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet divisions and the regions of Comilla and Noakhali today with the weather remaining dry along with partly cloudy sky elsewhere across the country.
The day temperature is likely to remain nearly unchanged, the forecast added.
