HC judgment on voters' list
SC again defers hearing on EC's appeal
3/13/2006

The Supreme Court Sunday once again deferred the hearing on the leave to appeal filed by the Election Commission (EC) against the High Court judgment on preparation of voters' list till March 27 due to absence of principal counsel for the writ petitioner, Dr Kamal Hossain, at the court, reports BDNEWS.
This is the sixth time that the hearing on the case was adjourned.
The hearing was adjourned three times due to quorum crisis of judges in the Chief Justice's court. In the two other cases, the hearing was deferred due to hartal and time petition by the EC.
Five Appellate Division judges headed by Chief Justice Syed JR Mudassir Husain were present in the bench for hearing the EC's appeal in the morning.
Advocate on record Sufia Khatun informed the court that the principal counsel for the writ petitioners Dr Kamal Hossain was absent at the court.
The Chief Justice said, "The hearing on the case has been adjourned due to the absence of Dr Kamal Hossain at the court for his personal difficulties and the hearing over the matter will be held on March 27."
Attorney general AJ Mohammad Ali was present at the court.
