Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament Sheikh Hasina Sunday reiterated her plea for international inquiry into militant acts and interrogation of JMB leaders Shaekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai under UN supervision and Interpol to reveal the facts behind the militancy, reports UNB. "If Interpol's cooperation was sought earlier by the government to arrest Shaekh Rahman and Bangla Bhai, why wouldn't they now be engaged in interrogating the kingpins?" she said in support of her contention for an impartial interrogation of these two dreaded militants. Addressing a meeting at the auditorium of Diploma Engineers Institute to commemorate veteran Awami League leader Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, Hasina said bomb and grenade attacks by militants are not the problem of Bangladesh alone, it's an international problem. "So there is a necessity for interrogation by international agencies," she said. About the Prime Minister's claim of involvement of external forces into the JMB militancy while the IGP's rejection of it, Hasina wanted to know who is telling lies- the PM or the IGP? Referring to the arrest and torture of Awami League leaders after the Mymensingh cinema blasts and Shaekh Rahman's confession that he had ordered staging the blasts, she asked the government to explain the fact. Hasina once again termed the capture of the JMB militant leaders as drama and wondered how a most wanted militant leader like Shaekh could live with his entire family? She also cast doubt on different aspects of the RAB operation at the Surya Dighal Bari in Sylhet before his capture. Alleging that Shaekh and Bangla Bhai are the creation of the government, she said it's the policy of the alliance regime to use them as long as required. The commemorative discussion organised by Bangladesh Legal and Logistic Assistance for the Distressed was addressed, among others, by Awami League leaders Tofael Ahmed, Abdul Jalil MP, Noor-e-Alam Siddique, Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, Momtaz Hossain, Workers Party leader Rashed Khan Menon, JP leader Sheikh Shahidul Islam and Rokonuddin Mahmud. Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina has expressed her hope that Bangladesh's development partners would support the opposition's proposal to reform the system of caretaker government and the Election Commission to ensure free and fair elections in the country.
