Tension mounted the Eden College campus following an attack on the students, who are in a movement to realise their demands, by the activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) Sunday, reports UNB. The students have been protesting for the last few days to realise their six-point demand including re-allotment of seats of several general students, which were allegedly occupied by the activists of JCD, the student wing of ruling BNP. The JCD girls Sunday attacked the agitating students who laid a siege to the office of Eden Principal, leaving Jahura, 26, a Masters' student of History Department injured seriously. "But the principal did not come out of his office to talk to the students," alleged some of the enraged students. Meanwhile, the JCD activists were forced to retreat facing strong resistance from general students. Apparently angered by the forcible occupation of seats, general students of the College may call an indefinite strike from March 18 to press home their demands, campus sources said. The general students said they would be compelled to take such a step if the ousted students were not given back their rooms and the JCD workers go unpunished. Eden students alleged that Principal Firoza Begum is still indifferent to end the crisis and re-allot the seats to the victimised students. Earlier, Principal Firoza Begum, wife of State Minister for Religious Affairs Mosharraf Hossain Shahjahan, dismissed the allegations brought against the college authorities and the JCD activists.
