Corruption in police
Quayyum calls on ACC commissioner
3/13/2006

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Quayyum Sunday called on Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Commissioner Moniruzzaman Miah at his office at Agargaon in the city, reports UNB.
Sources said Moniruzzaman asked the IGP to meet him to discuss the follow-up of the recommendations ACC put forward in a view exchange meeting on July 28 last year to tackle widespread corruption in the police force.
But Quayuum could not apprise Moniruzzaman of the follow up of the Commissioner's recommendations, as he (Quayyum) said to the Commissioner that he was busy with other things. The IGP, however assured Moniruzzaman that he (IGP) would meet him again.
In the view exchange meeting held at Police Headquarters, Moniruzzaman had put forward few recommendations including setting up a joint surveillance team of ACC and police, and formation of a caretaker cell comprising government and non-government personnel.
