GrameenPhone launches mobile Web browser
FE Report
3/17/2006

GrameenPhone (GP) has introduced a mobile Web browser, Opera Mini, that runs on most Java-enabled mobile phones.
With Opera Mini, its subscribers can start surfing the Web on the mobile phone they have today. GrameenPhone is the first mobile phone operator to introduce Opera Mini in Bangladesh, following the successful global launch of the browser in January 2006.
Opera Mini compresses Web sites by up to 80 per cent, and reformats all Web pages to fit the width of small mobile screens. The compression makes browsing fast and cheaper, and Opera's unique Small-Screen Rendering allows a smooth Web experience. Users of Java-capable cell phones and GPRS or EDGE Internet connections anywhere will find browsing the Web faster and easier by downloading Opera Mini.
At the moment, Opera Mini is available free of charge and does not require any registration fee. GrameenPhone users (both prepaid and postpaid) with Java-enabled handsets and EDGE connectivity can download Opera Mini from GrameenPhone's WAP Portal http://wap.gpsurf.net/gp.
