DSE indices down, CSE’s mixed

          The price indices of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) slid while those of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed mixed Thursday.
The DSE All Share Price Index closed at 1196.12 points, registering 2.61 points or 0.22 per cent fall from 1197.73 points of Wednesday, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index went down by 6.13 points or 0.39 per cent to close at 1555.82 points from 1561.96.
The DSE-20 Index slipped by 33.31 points or 2.20 per cent to close at 1481.47 points from 1514.78.
About 3.38 million shares and debentures, worth Tk 154.46 million, changed hands on the day, against 3.29 million shares, valued at Tk 173.49 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 203 issues were traded on the day, including 149 gainers, 42 losers and 12 remaining unchanged, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 226.67 billion from 228.56 billion.
Summit Power was the top trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day, with its 27,550 shares valued at Tk 10.36 million being traded. The price of the issue gained by 3.88 per cent to close at Tk 381.25. Its price varied between Tk 383.50 and Tk 365.25 on the day.
Exim Bank was a significant performer on the day. Its 16,600 shares, valued at Tk 8.08 million, changed hands. The price of the issue went up by 1.03 per cent to close at Tk 488.75. Its price fluctuated between Tk 495.00 and Tk 484.50 on the day.
Aims First Mutual Fund was the top trade turnover leader, in terms of volume, on the day. Its 457,500 shares, worth Tk 500,500.00 were traded. The price of the issue remained unchanged at Tk 1.09 on the day.
Zeal Bangla Sugar was the top gainer with its price being increased by 35.18 per cent to close at Tk 7.30. Its 72,900 shares worth 494,300.00 changed hands.
Prime Bank was the top loser on the day, as its price dropped by 21.34 per cent to close at Tk 457.00. Its 8,450 shares, valued at Tk 3.87 million, changed hands on the day.
The price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), however, closed mixed. The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, decreased on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index gained by 0.26 per cent to finish at 3257.56 points from 3249.18 points of Wednesday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index went down by 0.38 per cent to close at 3087.29 points from 3099.02.
A total of 1.61 million shares and debentures, worth Tk 27.64 million, changed hands on the day, against the previous day's 2.01 million shares and debentures, valued at Tk 39.01 million.
A total of 93 issues were traded on the day. Of them, 63 gained, 21 lost grounds and nine remained unchanged.
Gulf Foods was a major gaining issue on the day, as its price moved up by 56.32 per cent to close at Tk 34.00 from Tk 21.75.
