HABIGANJ, Mar 18: Local people attacked members of a mobile court when they went to conduct a drive against selling of non-iodised salt at a market in the town Thursday. Witnesses said the court led by Magistrate Mirazul Islam Ukil conducted the drive at Chowdhury Bazar and fined four shops Tk 12,000 for selling date expired and non-iodized salt. —UNB
Spice cultivation
MAGURA, Mar 18: The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) has taken up a scheme to bring 2,483 hectares of land under spice farming in the district with an output target of 20,321 tonnes. According to DAE, garlic has been cultivated on 533 hectares and onion on 1,950 hectares. —UNB

NAOGAON, Mar 18: The police seized a statue of touchstone of 'Basu Dev' which was found abandoned at Bhatkei village in Raninagar Upazila Wednesday. On information, police rushed to the village and seized the 58kg statue worth about Tk 6.0 million. —UNB
Mobile court realises fine from traders
MANIKGANJ, Mar 18: A mobile court Thursday realised fines from 50 businessmen of the town for running their business without any trade license. The mobile court led by magistrate Yasmin Begum conducted the drive. It realised Tk 500 from each businessman for having no trade license and Tk 300 for running their business without renewing the license. —UNB
