23rd anniversary of Bangladesh-Oman ties celebrated

          Bangladesh Embassy in Muscat celebrated the 23rd anniversary of Bangladesh-Oman diplomatic relations Monday with a grand reception at Grand Hyatt Hotel, reports UNB.
To mark the occasion, a book, titled Bangladesh-Oman Amity, published by Bangladesh Embassy, was released by Dr Juma bin Ali bin Juma Al Juma, minister of manpower, who presided over the celebrations as the chief guest, Times of Oman said.
Nearly 300 guests including diplomats, ambassadors, government officials and high-level dignitaries from the Sultanate were in attendance at the reception.
The dignitaries included Ambassador Mahmoud bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Rahma, chief of protocol department, Ambassador Yahya bin Salim Al Wahaibi, chief of consular department of the Sultanate's Foreign Ministry; Essa bin Mohammed Al Zedjali, chairman and editor-in-chief of the Times of Oman and Habib Macki, vice-chairman of Oman International Exchange.
Bangladesh Ambassador Golam Akbar Khondakar and Dr Juma spoke on the occasion.
The Ambassador presented a memento to Habib Macki, vice-chairman of Oman International Exchange, who received it on behalf of Oman Hockey Association, in honour of participation in the 15th Asian Games 2006 Doha qualifying tournament in Dhaka in May and winning the silver medal.
A cultural programme was organised when songs and traditional dances from both Oman and Bangladesh were presented.
Meanwhile, the book Bangladesh-Oman Amity which was released by Dr Juma on the occasion is a tribute to 23 years of bilateral diplomatic relations and was dedicated to all the enterprising Bangladeshis who came to the Sultanate, lived and died here.
