Price indices gain at both bourses

          Price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) gained Tuesday, as the gaining issues outplayed the losing ones. The trade turnover, in terms of volume, fell but in terms of value, it increased on the day.
The DSE All Share Price Index closed at 1267.48 points, registering 5.63 points or 0.45 per cent rise from 1261.84 points of Monday, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index rose by 7.19 points or 0.43 per cent to close at 1665.57 points from 1658.38 points of the previous day.
The DSE-20 Index went up by 0.25 points or 0.01 per cent to end at 1688.61 points from 1688.35 points.
About 2.21 million shares and debentures worth Tk 158.29 million changed hands on the day against 3.23 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 154.12 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 148 issues were traded on the day including 76 gainers, 56 losers and 16 remaining unchanged on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 224.35 billion from Tk 223.43 billion.
Pubali Bank performed as a major trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 22,495 shares valued at Tk 32.02 million changed hands. The price of the issue gained by 7.55 per cent to close at Tk 1,459.00.
Aims First Mutual Fund was the top trade turnover leader, in terms of volume, on the day. Its 617,500 shares worth Tk 797,800.00 were traded. The price of the issue went up by 0.78 per cent to close at Tk 1.29 on the day.
City Bank was a major performer on the day with its 18,830 shares valued at Tk 12.23 million being traded. The price of the issue went up by 3.09 per cent to close at Tk 658.50. The price of the issue varied between Tk 662.00 and Tk 639.50 on the day.
Miracle Industries was the top gainer on the day, as its price rose by 13.71 per cent to close at Tk 19.90. Its 368,000 shares valued at Tk 7.05 million changed hands on the day.
The price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed higher on the day, as the gainers outnumbered the losers.
The trade turnover, in terms of volume, dropped, but in terms of value, it increased on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index moved up by 0.35 per cent to finish at 3368.95 points from 3357.16 points of Monday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index went up by 0.75 per cent to close at 3180.88 points from 3157.26 points.
A total of 0.68 million shares and debentures worth Tk 25.73 million changed hands on the day against the previous day's 1.09 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 25.45 million of the previous day.
