AKTEL, a GSM operator in the country, has recently added internet service provider (ISP) facilities to its operations.
The fully commissioned ISP is to complement AKTEL's existing GSM services and to provide enhanced data and value added services to the customers.
AKTEL is optimistic that the ISP services will prepare mobile phone users for GSM and internet convergence.
There are some specific products and services available under the ISP umbrella. The service will augment the much popular GPRS services to provide faster internet browsing and quick access to many internet applications. It will also provide a number of value added services on top of GPRS platform.
Initially AKTEL's ISP will extend email, web and data hosting services to corporate customers and also a package of facilities including commercial Anti-Spam solutions.
