Price indices rise at both bourses

          Price indices on both the bourses rose Sunday in moderate trading.
The price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) increased, as the gaining issues overwhelmed the losing ones. The trade turnover, in terms of volume, fell but in terms of value, it went up on the day.
The DSE All Share Price Index closed at 1301.68 points, registering 5.02 points or 0.39 per cent gain from 1298.66 points of Wednesday, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index increased by 6.93 points or 0.40 per cent to close at 1718.21 points from 1711.28 points of the previous day.
The DSE-20 Index gained by 2.34 points or 0.14 per cent to close at 1640.30 points from 1637.96 points.
About 3.09 million shares and debentures worth Tk 281.03 million changed hands on the day against 3.95 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 258.43 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 157 issues were traded on the day including 95 gainers, 44 losers and 18 remaining unchanged on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also registered rises on the day, as the gainers outplayed the losers.
The trade turnover, in terms of volume, dropped but in terms of value, it increased on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index gained by 0.74 per cent to finish at 3446.45 points from 3421.01 points of Wednesday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index moved up by 0.50 per cent to close at 3211.87 points from 3196.01 points.
A total of 1.65 million shares and debentures worth Tk 74.79 million changed hands on the day.
