Govt carrying out bomb attacks using JMB: AL
12/29/2005

Main opposition Awami League alleged Wednesday the alliance government has been carrying out bomb and grenade attacks on the pro-liberation forces, including AL, using members of the suicide squad of JMB, reports BDNEWS.
"As a part of the campaign, JMB threatened to kill Awami League presidium member Suranjit Sengupta. The threats, and languages of the Jamaat and the Prime Minister (PM) are identical," AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil said while speaking at a press conference Wednesday at Dhanmondi party office.
He said as the alliance government as a part of its election engineering is utilising the militants. "The total responsibility will go to the PM and Jamaat."
Jalil said all the bomb and grenade attacks were carried out on the pro-liberation forces. Neither BNP nor Jamaat faced such kind of attacks exposing identity of the attackers.
Referring to his life insecurity, Suranjit Sengupta claimed that attempts have already been made thrice to kill him.
"Nothing positive was yielded although I requested the Speaker to investigate the threats through a parliamentary committee," he said adding that the gunman provided to ensure his security, has no wireless set.
Awami League presidium member Matia Chowdhury, central leader Obaidul Quader, Abdul Mannan Khan and Tanjim Ahmed Sohel, MP, were also present at the press conference.
The JMB members recently sent two separate letters to the UNO of Dirai-Shalla parliamentary constituency and Karimpur UP chairman threatening to kill Suranjit Sengupta through bomb attack.
