Dollar stronger, call rate steady

          The US dollar appeared stronger against the Bangladesh taka (BDT) Sunday in the local inter-bank foreign exchange market, while the inter-bank call money rate remained steady in an active market.
In the formal inter-bank market, the exchange rate of the greenback against the taka varied between Tk 69.05 and Tk 71.60 against the previous day's range between Tk 68.18 and Tk 71.40. The cash dollar was firmer in public deals and was transacted at rates between Tk 68.90 and Tk 72.24.
In the informal market, the dollar slightly gained and was traded between Tk 70.00 and Tk 70.30 against previous day's range between Tk 68.90 and Tk 69.20.
The call rate was at its high at 25.00 maintaining the previous day's rate. The call rate evidently moved above the bank rate of 5.00 per cent. The call rate mainly varied between 10.00 per cent and 25.00 per cent.
