The 87th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed Friday across the country, reports BDNEWS.
The main opposition Awami League (AL) celebrated the day as the National Children's Day.
Leader of the Opposition in the parliament and president of Awami League, Sheikh Hasina gave a message on the occasion. Hasina, now in the USA, participated at the children's day programme in Florida.
Awami League and its front organisations arranged different programmes to observe the day. The programmes included hoisting of national and party flags in AL offices across the country, laying floral wreaths at the statue of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in capital and Bangabandhu's mausoleum in Tungipara, organising milad mahfil, discussions and cultural soirees.
