Price indices in bourses decline

          All the price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell Wednesday, as the losing issues outnumbered the gaining ones.
The trade turnover, in terms of volume, decreased, but in terms of value, it went up on the day.
The DSE All Share Price Index declined by 14.87 points or 1.03 per cent to close at 1414.53 points from 1429.20 points of Tuesday, the previous trading day.
The DSE General Index slipped by 19.36 points or 1.03 per cent to close at 1853.86 from 1873.22.
The DSE-20 Index slipped by 14.99 points or 0.74 per cent to end at 1994.42 points from 2009.41 points of the previous day.
About 4.91 million shares and debentures worth Tk 286.03 mil-lion changed hands on the day against 5.21 million shares and deben-tures valued at Tk 249.40 million of the previous trading day.
A total of 172 issues were traded on the day including 41 gainers, 111 losers and 20 remain-ing un-changed on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 224.49 billion from Tk 226.70 billion.
Southeast Bank was the top trade turn-over leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 36,650 shares valued at Tk 26.64 million changed hands. The price of the issue decreased by 0.91 per cent to close at Tk 728.75. Its price varied between Tk 746.00 and Tk 723.00 on the day.
Aims First Mutual Fund was the trade turnover leader, in terms of volume, on the day. Its 1.39 million shares worth Tk 2.61 million were traded. The price of the issue fell by 0.50 per cent to finish at Tk 1.87 on the day.
Rahim Textile was the top gainer on the day as its price moved up by 9.18 per cent to end at Tk 80.25. Its five shares valued at Tk 300.00 changed hands.
Rangamati Food was the top losing issue on the day. Its price fell by 8.69 per cent to close at Tk 2.10. Its 10,000 shares worth Tk 21,500 changed hands.
Bangla Processing was a major gaining issue on the day with its 15 shares valued at Tk 1,900.00 being transacted. The price of the issue rose by 8.93 per cent to close at Tk 128.00 on the day.
Uttara Finance was a major performer on the day with its 15,600 shares valued at Tk 16.66 million being traded. The price of the issue increased by 2.88 per cent to close at Tk 1,089.25. Its price varied between Tk 1,100.00 and Tk 1,010.50 on the day.
All the price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also dropped on the day, as the losers surpassed the gainers.
The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, however, went up on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index slipped by 0.60 per cent to close at 3608.5 points from 3640.32 points of Tuesday, the previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index fell by 0.19 per cent to close at 3304.98 points from 3311.40 points.
A total of 1.58 million shares and debentures worth Tk 68.46 million changed hands on the day against the previous day's 1.25 million shares and debentures valued at Tk 49.70 million of the previous day.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 217.76 billion from Tk 212.94 billion.
The total number of contracts increased to 3,162 from 2,489 of the previous trading day.
A total of 60 issues were traded on the day. Of them, 18 gained, 36 declined and six remained unchanged.
Bangladesh Weilding was the top gaining issue on the day. Its price went up by 16.67 per cent to close at Tk 5.60 from Tk 4.80. Its 5,000 shares valued at Tk 27,950.00 were traded on the day.
First Leasing was the top losing issue on the day. Its price fell by 11.13 per cent to end at Tk 421.00 from Tk 473.75. Its 250 shares worth Tk 105,450.00 changed hands on the day.
Southeast Bank was the top trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 12,000 shares valued at Tk 8.72 million were traded. The price of the issue fell by 0.14 per cent to close at Tk 729.50 from Tk 730.50.
Padma Textiles was a significant performer on the day. Its 303,000 shares valued at Tk 8.01 million changed hands. The price of the issue increased by 1.45 per cent to close at Tk 27.90 from Tk 27.50.
