CHITTAGONG, April 6: United efforts of both Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) are needed for introducing direct shipping service between Karachi and Chittagong Port (CP) to augment the volume of bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
M Syed Shafique, leader of the trade and investment delegation of the KCCI expressed the view while exchanging ideas with the CCCI leaders in Chittagong Monday.
He invited the CCCI leaders to participate in the upcoming international exposition to be held in Karachi from June 24 to 26.
Greeting the KCCI delegation, CCCI President Saifuzzaman said the liberal trade accord between the two countries may play an effective role in enhancing the bilateral trade.
He also called upon the visiting trade delegation to undertake initiatives to reduce the trade deficit between the two countries.
The CCCI chief also stressed the need for ensuring duty-free access of different Bangladshi goods including pharmaceuticals, melamines, ceramics, leather and jute goods and cables to Pakistan.
