CHITTAGONG, Jan 2: The construction work of a Tk 2.0 billion (200 crore) solar power plant is nearing completion at Muhuri near the Mirsarai-Sonagazi border in Chittagong.
The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) is supervising the project, being implemented with foreign technical assistance.
The project, first of its kind, will supply 180 to 200 mw more power to the national grid to reduce the power-deficit in the country significantly, BPDB sources said.
A US organisation conducted the soil test at the project site and then a Dhaka-based construction firm was assigned to implement the project. An Indian organisation is installing 24 gigantic towers of the plant.
When implemented, the project is expected to infuse dynamism into the national economy and help ensure uninterrupted power supply in the country, the sources further said.
