          MARKET ANALYSIS:
The foreign exchange market was moderately active Sunday due to weekend in the international market. The US dollar, however, gained against the Bangladesh taka in the local interbank market. The dollar remained steady in the local informal market, fund dealers said.
In the informal market, the dollar was traded between Tk 60.10 and Tk 60.40 against the Saturday's range between 60.00 per cent and 60.40 per cent. The exchange rate of the Indian rupee against the taka ranged between Tk 1.25 and Tk 1.31, they added.
In the formal interbank market, the exchange rate of the greenback against the taka varied between Tk 59.71 and Tk 61.78 against the previous day's range between Tk 59.69 and Tk 61.75. The dollar in public deals was traded between Tk 58.50 and Tk 61.15, dealers said.
In the regional market, the exchange rate of the dollar against the Indian rupee mainly varied between Rs 43.23 and Rs 43.27 and that against the Pakistani rupee between Rs 59.40 and Rs 59.45.
As on January 02, 2005, the London Interbank Offered Rates (LIBOR) against the US dollar were 2.40000 per cent for one month, 2.56438 per cent for three months, 2.78068 per cent for six months, 2.95000 per cent for nine months and 3.10000 per cent for twelve months, according to American Express Bank.
