Red alert in Rajshahi
Courts grant remands to JM militants

          RANGPUR, Feb 24 ( BSS): A first class Magistrate court here today granted eight days police remand to suspected Jamaatul Mujahidin (JM) millitants Samiul Alam alias Sizu, 30 and Fazlul Haq, 22 who were arrested by Detective Branch (DB) police from two villages in Gangachhara Upazila in the small hours of today.
A Dinajpur court also granted today three days police remand to each of the three suspected JM militants Abdur Rashid, 26, Yahhiya, 38 and Abu Bakar Siddique arrested Tuesday night.
A court in Gaibandha granted seven days police remand to all the 15 arrested suspected members of JM militants yesterday when they were produced before the court.
The remanded persons are Habibur Rahman, 23, Raju Sarder, 28, Enayet Hossain, 18, Sadakkat Mandal, 55, Ashraful Islam, 45, Obaidur Rahman, 18, Bablu Akand, 47, Ahmadullah, 35, Aminul Haq, 45, Shahidul Haq, 35, Mazharul Islam, 20, Shahinur Rahman, 35 Harunur Rashid, 28, Rownukul Islam, 35 and Tayebur Rahman, 26.
A Natore court granted further seven days police remand to all seven arrested militants- Anwarul Islam, Mokhlesur Rahman, Mohammad Ali, Abdur Razzaque, Rafiqul Islam, Abdul Baki and Saiful Islam yesterday.
A Thakurgaon court granted seven days police remand to Abdul Gafur, 50, Moksedur Rahman, 30 and Delwar Hossain yesterday.
Meanwhile, red alert has been declared in Rajshahi area after the arrest of Ahle Hadith Andolan leader Ahmadullah Galib and his three associates.
The authorities are also considering taking legal actions against three police officials allegedly having close links with Galib. The authorities already closed those cops, said an unconfirmed source.
More than 100 teams of police and RAB launched a massive hunt in different places of 16 northern districts Wednesday night. But they are yet to arrest any listed activist or leader of the terrorist organisations.
Noor Mohammad, DIG of Rajshahi range, told journalists that they were carrying out operations to net terrorists in northern parts of the country after the bomb explosion at Naogaon BRAC office.
