Govt to implement launch accident prevention project
FE Report
2/25/2005

The government Thursday decided to implement the "launch accident prevention project" worth Tk 431 million, sources said.
The meteorological department of the defence ministry will execute the project.
This was decided at an inter-ministerial meeting to avert complexity in financing the project that was taken to ensure safe movement of the inland water transports.
The project has three segments. The shipping ministry would implement two while the third one-setting up of 11 weather forecast centres in strategic points and operate those-would be implemented by the meteorological department as per the project profile, they added.
The involvement of two ministries has created problem for the government to finance the project that was scheduled to begin under the current Annual Development Programme.
To avert the complexity, the inter-ministerial meeting finally decided to shift the entire project under a single ministry, source said.
