Dollar gains further, call rate steady
FE Report
2/8/2006

The US dollar gained further against the Bangladesh taka (BDT) Tuesday in the local inter-bank foreign exchange market influenced by higher demand for the greenback. The inter-bank call money rate, however, remained almost steady in an active market. The dollar was also steady in the informal market, fund managers said.
In the formal inter-bank market, the exchange rate of the greenback against the taka ranged between Tk 66.75 and Tk 66.80 against the previous day's range of Tk 66.70 and Tk 66.75. The cash dollar was stronger in public deals and was transacted between Tk 64.60 and Tk 69.52.
The call rate was at its high at 23.00 against the previous day's rate of 23.50. The call rate mainly ranged between 9.00 per cent and 23.00 per cent against the previous day's range between 9.00 per cent and 23.50 per cent.
Most of the deals were settled at rates between 10.00 per cent and 12.00 per cent, fund managers added.
