SSC, Dakhil, Vocational exams begin

          SSC, SSC (vocational) and Dakhil examinations began simultaneously in the country Thursday under seven secondary education boards, one vocational board and one madrasa board, reports BDNEWS.
A total of 10,00,564 candidates are taking part in the first public examinations.
Of them, 7,89,669 are SSC examinees, 1,62,735 Dakhil and the rest 48,160 vocational examinees.
Students of 23,789 high schools and madrasas are appearing at the examinations in 1,349 centres. A total of 507 centres have been set up for the vocational exams.
Education Minister M Osman Farruk said that his ministry has taken all measures to check copying in the examinations.
Of the SSC examinees, 4,18,930 are boys and 3,70,739 girls. Number of boys and girls in Dakhil examinations is 93,803 and 68,932 respectively.
Education ministry source said, under Dhaka Board 2,24,141 examinees, including 1,19,454 male and 1,04,687 female candidates are taking part in the SSC examinations.
The number of SSC examinees under the Rajshahi Board is 2,17,919. Of them, 1,17,519 are boys and 1,00,400 girls.
A total of 47,388 boys and 43,234 girls -- in total, 90,622 candidates -- are sitting for the examinations under the Comilla Board.
In Jessore Board, 1,07,478 candidates, including 58,204 males and 49,274 females are attending the examinations.
In Chittagong Board, 61,763 candidates - 31,795 boys and 29,968 girls - will be appearing for the examinations..
A total of 56,638 candidates will give the examination under the Barisal Board. Of them, 29,651 are boys and 26,987 girls.
Under Sylhet Board, 31,108 candidates are taking part. Of them, 14,919 are boys and 16,189 girls.
