PM asks Power Division to expedite projects
3/13/2006

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia was learnt to have directed the authorities to expedite the ongoing process of installing barge-trailer-mounted power plants. The implementation of the project could add at least 500mw electricity to the power-hungry national grid within a few months, reports UNB.
She also asked the Power Division to take necessary steps to implement the proposed small power-plant project as per schedule.
Prime Minister's directions came during her meeting Sunday with senior cabinet ministers in the wake of countrywide nagging power crisis.
According to sources close to the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed her dissatisfaction over the prevailing power crisis.
She directed them to take measures so that irrigation could not be affected by the outages.
