All passenger launches bound for Patuakhali, Aamtali and Sureshwar from Dhaka will leave from Gabtali and all launches on the Dhaka-Dohri route will sail from Sinnirtek from April 12, reports BSS. The decision was taken at a meeting of the officials of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and the launch owners' association to make the best use of the circular water route around Dhaka, a BIWTA press release said Wednesday. Chairman of BIWTA Dr M Reaz Hasan Khandakar presided over the meeting while launch owners' association was led by its chairman Gias Uddin Al Mamun. The meeting decided that four launches of the Dhaka-Patuakhali route and two launches of the Dhaka-Aamtali route will operate from Gabtali from April 12 to ease congestion at the BIWTA terminal at Sadarghat here, the release said. In addition, launches of Dhaka-Taltala-Dohri and Dhaka-Wapda-Sureshwar routes will operate from Sinnirtek via Sadarghat, the release added.
