4/7/2005

The main opposition Awami League (AL) has designed a new policy for ensuring victory in the next general election, reports BDNEWS.
The party has planned to give nomination only to those who could win the election.
AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil said that stern action would be taken against any party leader trying to violate the decision of its high command concerning the parliament election. If necessary, the decision violators will be instantly expelled from the party.
Highly placed sources said AL, this time, is very careful about the intra-party conflict and revolt over candidatures adding the party is reviewing the experience of the past elections.
Many new faces are likely to get entry in the candidates' list of the party for contesting the next election on AL ticket, sources added.
Sources said intra-party dispute among the AL leaders still persists in many constituencies.
AL leader Saber Hossain Chowdhury who is also the political secretary to Sheikh Hasina told the news agency that candidates would be nominated after elaborately verifying their records.
