Bangladesh Jatiya Party (BJP) chairman Naziur Rahaman Manjur Wednesday came down heavily on BNP and accused it of patronising the fundamentalist and extremist forces as well as of not keeping pledges, reports BDNEWS. Expressing serious concern over the growth of religious extremism in the country, the leader of the four-party alliance said that instead of establishing Islamic values the BNP have patronised the fundamentalist forces. Indicating a split in the alliance, Manjur said: BJP is not a leased property of any other party. Addressing an extended meeting of the BJP central committee at a city community centre, he criticised the BNP, the major party of the alliance, for not taking action against the extremist forces. He also reminded BNP of not fulfilling any of its election pledges and questioned: will people trust them any more? Manjur, who joined the four-party alliance deserting Jatiya party of former President HM Ershad, expressed his frustration over the rise of political violence and held all political parties responsible for the situation.
