The High Court Tuesday stayed until November 15 the operation of a proposal of the independent Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for withdrawal of 256 personnel of the defunct Bureau of Anti-Corruption (BAC), reports UNB. The ACC in its proposal, addressed to the Cabinet Division, had also recommended retention of 33 district level BAC officers in the Commission in addition to withdrawal of 256 other officers and employees. Staying the operation of the ACC proposal, a division bench of the High Court, comprising justices Syed M Dastagir Hussain and M Ashfaqul Islam, issued rule upon the government and the ACC to explain why the impugned proposal should not be declared unlawful. The rule was made returnable in two weeks.
