A spokesman for the US embassy in Dhaka said Tuesday the American Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is not investigating Kibria's death, independently or otherwise. "It has, however, consulted Bangladeshi police officials and others associated with the Kibria case," the spokesman told UNB. The comments came in response to a query about the progress of FBI's investigation to find out the origin of the grenade used in the attack in Habiganj on January 27 that left Kibria and four others dead. Earlier, the government had sought FBI assistance in tracing out the origin of the grenade after the investigation of the Kibria murder. FBI Special Agent Trung Vu returned to Dhaka on March 20 to meet Bangladesh law-enforcement officials about the killing of the former finance minister.
