Arifa Reza Anwary, a fourth year student of Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP), secured the second position and received US$850 as prize money and a certificate from the organiser of SOFTEC-2005, said a press release. Anwary developed an intelligent robot named 'Bangla Manab II' which takes commands from the eye movement and faithfully executes these. If the eyeball is turned to the right, the robot through a sensor detects the direction of the movement of the eyeball and moves to the right accordingly. His robot was placed in the All Asia Software Fair held in Lahore, Pakistan recently. UAP Vice Chancellor Abdul Matin Patwari congratulated Anwary for his outstanding achievement at a ceremony held at his office recently. Fayyaz Khan, head of Computer Science and Engineering Department was also present on the occasion.
