Pro-AL lawyers forum sweeps SCBA polls

          Pro-Awami League lawyers' forum, Sammilita Ainjibi Samannay Parishad, won all the posts of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), reports BDNEWS.
The election, boycotted by the ruling coalition-backed Jatiyatabadi Oikkay Panel, was held Wednesday.
Mahbubey Alam and Enayetur Rahim have been elected president and secretary respectively.
A group of supporters of boycotting Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikkay Panel demonstrated on the SCBA premises while the election commission was counting votes Wednesday night.
Earlier in the day, Jatiyatabadi Oikkay Panel obtained an injunction from the judge court. But, the polling was completed before the messenger reached the injunction to the election commission, sources said.
The chief election commissioner Amzad Hossain unofficially declared the result at 10:15pm.
Some 904 voters out of 1,547 cast their votes.
Mahbubey Alam bagged 781 votes while his rival Sheikh Razzak Ali who boycotted the poll 34 votes.
Other elected office bearers are - vice presidents Md Moinul Islam (722) and Shah Mohammad Jahurul Huq (704), treasurer Muhammad Abdus Salam Mandal (716), assistant secretaries Md Salim (745) and Md Shahidul Islam (777) and executive members-Gazi Md Mamunur Rashid (745), Md Amir Hossain (690), Mohammad Taifur Kabir (699), Morsheda Begum Lipi (742), Sheikh AKM Maniruzzaman Kabir (650) and Sujit Bhattacharya.
